Located close to the South Coast in Sompting, West Sussex, we are a
husband and wife team.
We formed the Robert James Studio in 1997.

Mary E Kershaw: Profile

Sculptor and artist, working with clay since 1994, with the background
of working as a professional portrait artist since 1980.

Whilst continuing with painting, the emphasis is on combining artistic
skills with ceramic media, creating sculptural ceramics which are mainly
in stoneware with porcelain, as well as some work in terracotta.

Since 1999, I have been providing private tuition in ceramic sculpture,
modelling and hand-building; also in drawing and painting.

Apart from selling my work directly to the public, both from our studio
and at ceramics events and exhibitions, I have fulfilled a number of commissions.

My work has also been sold through various galleries. Please contact

Bob Kershaw: Profile

Originally worked in a supporting role as technician, glaze chemist
and administrator/facilitator.

Subsequently developed wheel-throwing skills, producing both functional
and ornamental/decorative studio pottery in stoneware and porcelain.

I continue to develop and produce the glazes used in our studio.

Since 1999 I have assisted in the provision of tuition, and now also
offer tuition in throwing.

Apart from selling my work directly to the public, both from our studio
and at ceramics events and exhibitions, I have fulfilled a variety of commissions.
